T&T Athlete Edition Spotlight – Makaira Wallace

Published on: January 7, 2026

Makaira Wallace is one of Trinidad and Tobago’s brightest rising stars in track cycling, leading the way for women’s sprint cycling. In her debut elite season, she became the first female sprint cyclist from Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the UCI Track Cycling World Championships, competing in the sprint, keirin and time trial.

Her rapid rise has been driven by a standout junior career with multiple medals at the UCl Junior World Track Cycling Championships and Junior Pan American Games, along with national records and silver medals in the keirin and 500 m time trial.

In 2025, she continued to shine on the international stage, winning bronze in the women’s keirin at the Bolivarian Games and climbing to 23rd on the UCl women’s sprint rankings. Training at the JLD Cycling Academy, Wallace brings fearless drive and technical precision, making history as the first woman from Trinidad and Tobago
